06 and 07 Boys & Girls Return from Florida

This past weekend the 2007 Boy and Girls and 2006 Boys and Girls attended the Florida Winter Cup in Palm Coast, Florida.  The 4 teams were able to compete against teams from around the state of Florida.  In addition to the competition on the field the groups were able to bond as teammates and club mates to fully encompass the Legacy Family atmosphere.

The Legacy groups begin taking club trips with their teams at the u13 and continue through their U18 year – visiting places such as Palm Coast, Palm Beach, Sarasota, New York City, Memphis, Nashville, Savannah and New York City.

“One of the things that I think separates our club and really creates that family atmosphere amongst our teams are the club trips.  It really allows the players to grow individually, as a team and as a club all while taking them out of their comfort zones and letting them travel and see different parts of the country.” (Technical Director – Bobby O’Brien)

This year of the 4 groups that competed in the event – the 2006 Boys finished as Champions!  They went 4-0 on the weekend en route to the gold. The full results of the 4 teams can be found here – www.floridawintercup.com

"“This Florida trip is always a great time for the players and staff. When you can find a club trip that combines competitive soccer and a great location it always makes the trip fun. Congratulations to the 07 CCL boys for getting two wins and making the semi final match. And congratulations to the 06 CCL Boys for going 4-0 and winning the championship!” (Paul Membrino - Boys Director)

The highlight of the trip was the Hammock Beach Resort where the teams resided for 3 days – taking in the beach and ocean, variety of indoor and outdoor pools, water slides, lazy river, mini golf course, bikes and open green space to play….more soccer.

“The 2007 and 2006 girls had an awesome experience down in Palm Coast, Florida this past weekend. Both teams enjoyed their time away from their home environment and enjoyed their time playing in the pools at the resort, playing mini golf, singing and dancing on the bus, and playing soccer against teams from Michigan, Florida, and Georgia. These trips truly help our girls become closer teammates and club mates and help build a family environment here at Legacy” (Mary Morgan - Girls Director)
