This past weekend 5 Virginia Legacy teams reached the FINAL FOUR of Virginia State Competitions.  These events (the VYSA STATE CUP and VYSA PRESIDENTS CUP) are top events for club soccer teams to compete against other clubs in the state to become a state champion.  Each competitions winner – advances to a Regional Competition in the summer against other state champions and eventually onto a national championship!   

The state cup this fall is for only 2004 to 2000 teams.  The 2007 to 2005 teams compete in the spring.

State Cup

2001 Girls: The 2001 girls enter the semi-final round ranked as the top team.  They will face a tough Fredericksburg FC team whom they beat earlier this season 2-1 in league play.   They currently are undefeated in league play this season and will look to become the first ever girls champion in Virginia from Virginia Legacy.

2004 Boys:  The 2004 Boys enter the semi-final round as the 4^th seed and will face the top seed and defending state champions from Arlington.  Arlington defeated Legacy in the semi-finals of last years state cup in an overtime thriller.  Also currently undefeated – the boys will look to keep their winning ways and advance to the championship match.

2001 Boys: The 2001 Boys – have already made history but also hope history doesn’t repeat itself.  This is their 3^rd consecutive trip to the Final 4 – a feat unmatched within the clubs history as Virginia Legacy.  However for the third straight year they will face a very tough McLean side that has defeated them each of the last two seasons in hard fought close matches.  Maybe the third time is the charm this time around for the 2001 Boys.

Presidents Cup

2002 Wizards Green- The 02 Wizards enter the weekend as the #3 seed in the tournament and will play McLean 02 Green.  Currently undefeated in league play as well with a 3-0 record – the 02 boys will look to build off their quarterfinal win 2-0 over Beach FC.

2003 Wizards Green- The 03 Wizards enter the semi-finals as the #4 seed.  Coming off thrilling victories in the first 2 rounds (1-0 and 4-4 PK win) – they will now face the #1 seed from Arlington.  Currently in 2^nd place in the top U16 bracket of the VSL – the 03 Wizards will look to perform the upset and get to the championship game.
