U17 Elite to compete for Regional Championship

2014/15 Virginia State Champions

 

The Virginia Legacy would like to wish the best of luck to the U17 Elite Boys who are traveling to Huntington, West Virginia this week to take place in the US Soccer – Region 1 Championships (www.region1.com).  The Legacy – 2014/15 Virginia State Champions – will be one of 16 teams competing for a place in the National Championship round in July.  Of the 16 Teams – 13 are State Champions from Region 1 – including New York, Pennsylvania, MD, New Jersey to name a few. The other 3 remaining teams are Wild Card Qualifiers from other competitions from last season.  The Legacy boys will travel Wednesday to West Virginia and participate in the opening ceremony/activities Thursday before playing one game a day (Fri/Sat/Sun)

The U17 Boys  - who won the Virginia State Cup in the Fall after a 1-0 win over SOCA in the semi-final and Penalty Kick win over defending champions Arlington (11th kicker) – will compete in group D at the Region 1 Championships and will compete against Kirkwood Roma (DE-State Champ), MSC Falcons (MD-State Champ) and Vandals (WV-State Champ).  The field is split into 4 groups of 4 with the winner of each group advancing to the Regional Semi-Final and then winners advancing to the Finals.  The Semi-Finals and Finals take place on Monday and Tuesday  (29th/30th) Only the winner from the Regional Championship will advance to the National Championship round in Oklahoma to compete against 4 qualifiers from the US National League and the 4 Regional Champions from around the country. 

Best of luck to the 22 Boys who will represent Virginia Legacy on the grand stage of the US Soccer Region 1 Championships.
